This painting is from a Dutch artist, Willen Kalf, who he usually in mostly all his paintings uses deep black background. He uses the black background for contrast. In this painting we see a bowl of white colour that has two people with bright colours, red and yellow dresses. There is another golden bowl which has a staue which seems to hold the bowl and it has abstact on it. We also see a half cut yellow orange in the painting and a thick red with black, dark and a bit of yellow abstact table cloth.

By this theme the viewer can easily understand that the painter had people for food. But not only this, it is known in the history of the arts that Willen Kulf is a master at painting curved shapes of metal and glass objects which he uses light colours to make a contrast with the black background.
