This potrait is a painting from Salvador Dali, a Spanish painter born in Figueres. The potrait was painted in the summer of 1925 at Cadaques. It is a close painting, and the old man who sits on the chair is Dali’s father. We see his father holding a pipein his left hand. He wears a well-dressed costume with white shirt inside and grey blazer. The expression on his face and the way he is dressed, gives the viewer the impression that he is wainting for someone alone in a room. The white reflexion gives us the impression that he is sitting near a window and the weather is quite good. Although his face might facing the viewer, his eyes are looking upon the viewer’s right. Even though he looks quite old he has no wrinkles, which makes the viewer think and wonder his real age.
The potrait has dark colours and the white shirt inside makes the contarst and the monotony of the dark to break off.
