This painting is from the famous French artist, Claude Monet. This painting is called “Sunrise” and it was decided to be drawn in 1872 by Monet and his friends. It is an open painting and the surrounding landscape area is Paris. It is an “en plein air”, which means in the open air and this illustrates that this painting was a large finished product for Monet and his friends.
In the painting we see bold yellowto orange colours and light lilac brushwork, that they used to capture the light that it bounced off to the objects. We can understand that there is an increased in the intensity of complementary colours of blue and orange, red and green, yellow and violet when they are placed next to one another.
The sun reflects into the crystal sea, where we can see a small boat with two men going towards the west north of the painting. There is a reflexion of the boat into the sea, that makes the viewer’s first sight to see that there are two boats.
To conlude, Monet together with his colleques uses primary and secondary colours, they added oil to make the painting oily and diminsh their colour.
